Emergency Reroute Instructions - Magellan Denver Aurora Truck Rack

Issue

  • Drivers are blocking the railroad at Smith and Chambers Road intersection.

  • Magellan has been contacted by RTD, which operates the commuter rail line. The rail operator had to employ their emergency stop to avoid a collision due to trucks blocking the railroad.

1.    Please use the two alternative routes outlined in the images below to avoid Chambers Road and the railroad crossing.

1.    Access via Peoria Street
2.    Access via Tower Road

2.    Help communicate to other carriers and dispatchers these alternative routes.
Why? To reduce the risk to drivers, commuters, and the general public. As you can imagine, a collision between a commuter train and a fuel transport truck will be catastrophic.

We will continue to update you. Magellan appreciates your business and understands the frustrations due to long wait times at the terminal. We kindly ask for your cooperation as we work through this situation. Any additional questions should be directed to your supplier.

  Background
•    Magellan's Denver (Aurora) terminal is experiencing a significant increase in truck traffic due to recent supply constraints in the Denver Metroplex.
•    Magellan anticipates early April for traffic to return to normal.
•    Subsequently, lines have stretched outside the facility and onto Smith Road down to the intersection with Chambers Road.

Steps Already Taken
To assist with this re-direction, we've done the following.
